My 95 Jayco had surge brakes, and I just loved them.  I always took the camper in for service each spring and had the wheel bearings greased and repacked, the brakes checked and adjusted.  Then, I would check the fluid level of the brakes before each trip.  I really liked the surge brakes.

Thanks for that link!

That was a great site for information.  My next question is how loose should the tongue be?  Mine has a lot of movement up and down as well as the back and forth movement needed to actuate the brakes.  I tightened it up, but there are springs on the bolts and I'm not sure how tight they should be.

Boy ... you've lost me on this one!  JUST WHAT "TONGUE" are you referring too?
Need a little more detail(s) ...

I was referring to the trailer tongue, but I guess the technical name is the coupler.

Thanks, lwbfl, for getting me clear on the subject.  Usually when I refer to the trailer tongue I mean the part of the frame that comes out from the front of the camper (tecnical name of "A" frame) and has all that bric-a-brac attached to it like the 20# L/P tank, battery, saftey chains, ect., ect. and at the very end, the coupler. Had visions of your "A" frame sliding back and forth and up and down ... was about to send out an alarm! (LOL)

I'm a little hesitant to say more as I'm not familar with your camper or the  surge brake set-up. May I suggest you e-mail Champion trailers and see what kind of advice you get back. Nothing like getting something from the horse's mouth, so to speak!

LOL, I can understand your concern!  I have e-mailed a few companies, but they usually take longer to reply than some message boards. Thanks again Fly.
