To put it simply my wife and I love to go camping with our 2000 model viking pop up.  But like anthing else we are starting to feel more crampt in our 8' box model.  Lately we have been visiting our local dealer more ofter and scoping out the newer model and have about decided on a Rockwood by Forest River.  This model has the slide with a shower combo unit.  I am familar with the standard versions of a folding camper but how do the slides hold up?  Are they worth the extra room or do they cause more problems than to offset the benifits?  Anyway thanks for any info. :eyecrazy:

I purchased a Rockwood w/ slideout a few months ago.  I love it!  The slide out is well worth having as it gives much more floor space inside.  I have not had any problems relating to the slide at all.

We had a Fleetwood Utah from 1999 until 2006 with a slideout.  We never had any problems at all and loved the extra room.  We replaced it with a 2006 Fleetwood Niagara that also has a slide out, and so far so good.

Hi,
I used to have a standard 2 slide Jayco popup which was nice but I personally wouldn't consider one when purchasing a new unit,
I  now have a '98 starcraft 1224,(12 ft box) with the dinette slide....it's wonderful, we've had no problems w/ it and it not only gives you so much more floor area, but the overall camper is just so much more roomy and open feeling, and the seating area is large and comfortable, infact  as the dinette is set up about 8"-10" higher than a standard dinette I can stand at the end of it to do all of my food prep etc., it's close to the same height as my kitchen counter! I think the extra slide really makes the camper much more user friendly, and the thought of a rainy day inside isn't bad! Hope this helps.
