A week from this Friday we're heading out to French Creek SP in Pa. I just did a mapquest so I can get some directions, and it returned War & Peace! Seems like there's a dozen turns once you get off the "major" roads.  :yikes:  And the distance for a lot of them is a mile or less, which almost sounds like I'm driving through some type of residential area. Definitely not what I want to do.

Does anyone know a better way to get there? I live in Phillipsburg, NJ (by Easton, PA). I can take 22 or 78 to get to 309, 100, etc. I know 100 is pretty crappy in spots -- been on that road several times -- but I'd much rather take that then go through some neighborhood.

We have camped there several times and yes, the road in is windy and there are several turns, but it is mostly wooded road through state forest-like areas.  There are some houses along the road, but it is not a development or what I would call a neighborhood.  I don't think there is any other way to get to it once you are off the main roads, you must take the forested ones no matter which direction you are coming from.  I would say that coming in from Rte 23 is probably the most windy though.  But it is a very nice park and well worth the effort.  Hope this helps.

Agreed.  Getting there isn't all that hard.  I live off Route 100.  Here's how I get there:

Route 100 South to Route 422 West
Follow 422 for appx 10 miles
When you first get on 422, it will be an expressway.  After a few miles, it will turn into a divided highway.  (Cheap gas alert!)
After you pass Daniel Boone Road, get in the left lane.
Make your next left onto Route 82. (Birdsboro)
You will cross the eastbound lanes of 422, pass a dump on your right, then cross a bridge into Birdsboro.
Make your first left onto E Main St, then a right onto Chestnut.  Follow this all the way out to the park.  The park entrance will be on your right.
You'll see signs for the park the entire way.

Here's a link to a map of the area:  http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=&csz=birdsboro%2C+PA&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the directions. I'll have to examine your route a bit better, because it seems to be a lot easier. And that's always a good thing...  :p

Bob;

We ended up using your directions, and they turned out to be very easy and accurate. Thanks a bunch...
