Did I miss something?  I made a reservation 2 days ago on ReserveAmerica.  It was the same unwieldy, difficult, cantankerous situation it had always been.  Then, yesterday, up pops this new, user friendly, easier to use page.  I couldn't believe the overnight change.  Did this only happen for NY State Parks, or is it the whole system?  Or, am I in a time warp of some kind here?

I'll bet the ugly extra fee didn't go away...

The vast majority of my stays are at National Forest C/G's and I know for a fact a lot of complaints were going to the NFS and to the federal elected folks to absolutely do away with the reserve system as it existed. I suspect there have been some "changes" in the works at that end.

The UEF is still there.

To answer your original question, It looks like the whole system has changed.
I just made reservations a few weeks ago, and it was an updated site, but nothing like the much improved site I see today. Finally they listened to our complaints and made it better.

:( Never had a problem with ReserveAmerica. Always been an easy, great experience, even when I wanted to delete and let go of a reservation.

I noticed a new interface a few days ago for Wisconsin. Looks like a definite improvement.

Speaking of fees, since I am a NYS Access Card holder I am suppose to get "free" camping at NYS Parks. Last weekend I stayed at Green Lakes SP and arrived with NO reservations. With the cost of paying for electric and the reservation fee my "free" camping still cost me $20.75 for two nights.

Now if I make reservations thru Reserve America I have to pay the full amount and then after camping send in a $25 application fee for a return on my money. GO FIGURE.

FYI: reserveamerica is owned and operated by Ticketron. Wht you are seeing with the new site is that they finally realized that camping reservations are different than selling concert tickets.

When RA got into the business of camping reservations years ago they first made the mistake of not investigating how reservations work and programming for it, then allowing the several hundred clients they have that use RA and stand alone sites for reservations (yes a lot of those sites you go to for reservations you think are operated by the state/county/whatever are actually RA sites without the name) to dictate vastly different requirements for their reservations which created a programming nightmare.
It's only taken about 10 years for the problems to finally get to someone who recognized them as problems and started to do something about them.

I like the new look.:)
