I just purchased a 1996 fleetwood/ Coleman Shenandoah 12 foot box.  It has every option except AC.  I have read the threads on ac's, I figure I will try to do this myself.  Currently on Ebay there are 2 companies selling AC units.  I live in NY so I'm tring to figure out if 13.500 btu AC is big enough or if I should go for the 15,000 BTU.  Also I know carrier is a good model but the are adds for Duotherm also that are more reasonable.  any recomendations.  All the adds on Ebay say just cut a 14 by 14 hole and run an electric line is it really that simple?  I will probably continue to read all the post on installation before I attempt this.

I have a Fleetwood Sante Fe with a 10 foot box. My 13,500 Coleman Mach 3 did very well keeping us cool in heat up to 107 degrees in Zion National Park this past July.  But of course we also used our Pop Up Gizmo solar covers for the bunk ends. They make a HUGE difference.

If your only going to be in NY you might not even need the solar covers however they also keep your canvas clean from bird droppings and tree sap.

13,500 is the standard AC size.  The whole for the AC unit has to be in the proper location and your roof has to capable of supporting the AC unit.  You should contact Fleetwood and see if your trailer roof needs a prep kit and if the roof is AC ready.  You might need to add a support bar.  Good luck on the project.:)

Decision is made, I think I done good, the local dealership is going to do the complete job this winter for a total price is $980.00.  Going to get the coleman mack III with heat.  The PU will also need the support.  When I ran the numbers it looks like they are charging about $350.00 for install so I figure let them do it that way if there are any problems I get to yell at them instead of myself.
