Hello out there in beauitiful popup land. One of the hurdles I have to overcome before I can take out our bodacious 1991 Starcraft Starflyer for it's first cruise. it to figure out why and correct a full 2" lift difference between the left and right side. I think maybe the cable could be winding on itself.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

brainpause

There are several distinct possibilities.

1) Simple adjustment is needed. Depending on your lift system, you may be able to adjust it with the turnbuckles found on the bottom side of the camper.

2) Something about the system is bent or out of shape. It only takes 1" of movement for something to be 2" out of level.

3) A roof support has gone through the rotten floor, causing binding of the cables and #2 above, if the roof support is downward.

4) What you suggested in the original post, though not likely. The cables are pretty tight normally, and would be hard for this to happen.

Hope you find the problem, and hope this helps.

Thanks Larry for the feedback!!! I really appreciate it. Well, here's the deal. I dropped the winch and cleaned it up, lubed it, checked the cables and then re-installed. Then, I tried to adjust the roof via the corner turn buckles. What a pain in the keester (s?). Anyway, after about 12 cranks up and down, and crawling all over and under the trailer, the best I could do was get the right side within an inch of the left. Bam!!! Close enough for Government work! We took it out on a trip the following day and everything seems to work great. I now suspect  :yikes:  for whatever reason, the cables are two inches longer on the right side over the left. Thanks again for your input and good luck with your camping and Mods!

Starcraft uses two different lift systems; their own patented lift system and the Goshen lift.

In case your's is the Goshen, then this link will give you the instructions. Should you per chance have Starcraft's other system, your still in luck as I understand Goshen makes that system for Starcraft as well. Give them a call if you need more help, they are great folks and always willing to help out.
