Well, I made it through the two-day blizzard here in Denver.  It's taken another three days to plow out our cars so we could get to work.  Some might think it's a real bummer working Christmas Eve, but I'm glad to finally get out.  Four days cooped up with extreme cabin fever, just driving to work this afternoon made me feel good.

I called my brother to let him know his package was going to be late.  He understood, and even confessed that it's been so busy at his guitar shop that he hadn't even done his shopping yet.  So, we both get New Year's gifts.:XMas

On this page find "The Week in Photos", click on it, picture #2 is pretty accurate of what the blizzard looked like.  There are still about 1000 people at the airport trying to get home for the holidays.  Some have given up and gone home.  But, according to the local news, airlines are giving customers an extension until Jan 8th (I believe) to use their tickets with no penalties.  I think they are also giving refunds.  I know, it's a mess, creating air travel havoc throughout the country.  But just remember the Donner Party, having to travel in covered wagons in such a blizzard!  We still live in a wonderful time!!!

This blizzard has given me a new perspective on my fellow humans.  Everyone has been very helpful and understanding.  Neighbors helping neighbors, all of us checking on each other.  Strangers helping to shovel sidewalks and driveways.  Companies sending their employees home, and closing up shop, in hopes they get home safe.  Snowplowers working overtime, in shifts, round the clock, making our highways and freeways safe again.  This wasn't our biggest blizzard, but I think the spirit of the holidays brought out a record number (after the snow stopped) to help with the "digging out".

I guess I'm fortunate.  While most dream of a white Christmas, we certainly have one already.  It's beautiful to look at - I'll post some pics of it on my webshots.  In the meantime:

Have a Wonderful Holiday!!
and give a cheery smile to all you meet!!:W

We only had rain from your storm, but in the past we have been dumped on and the state closed all roads, except for plows and people that work critical jobs, medical fields, police, firemen, etc.  It was very strange going to and from work and only seeing one or two cars on the 30 mile drive.

Have a wonderful holiday!:)

I posted a few pics on my webshots page of the blizzard.  Not much to look at, but you can see the pile-up on my back patio pretty good.  These were taken Wednesday afternoon, the day it started.  Since I didn't really have a Christmas, decided to snowshoe in Cherry Creek State park (a mile and a half from my house) and took some awesome shots of geese and snow.  Unfortunately having a hard time writing those pics to CD so I can post them (don't have internet access on my laptop, where the pics are).  I'll try to have them up by NY.

Even though I didn't get anything for Christmas, I did splurge a bit on my camper.  It's now got the "CMPDIRT" plates on it.  Will try to post that pic as soon as I take one...;)

Another blizzard is here and expected to last until Sat maybe Sunday.  Maybe I'll get something done in the house this time around.
Anyway, everybody have a wonderful NEW YEAR!:!

Happy New Year to you.  How deep is the snow this time?

This time it was only about 14-16" here in Aurora, however, the eastern plains got hit with drifts up to 8 feet!!  The national guard and Civil Air Patrol are out today rescuing anyone or any livestock stranded.  There was a dairy farm that had it's roof collapse killing two cows.  The eastern plains is not that populated but a lot of cattle ranches and dairy farms are affected.  Won't be surprised if milk goes up.  It's still a mess, shoveled about 2 feet behind my car.  Snowplows still working overtime.  This blizzard is a little more dangerous because of heavy wet snow from Canada to Mexico, creating tornadoes and flooding in Texas.  At least the airport remained open this time around, not as many stranded tourists.

And winter hasn't really started yet!!!  Just waiting for roads to improve so I can get out and SKI!!

I am glad you are doing ok.  Have fun with the snow.:D
