We were in a WalMart yesterday (just off the interstate near Franklin, TN).  Late afternoon and one RV already in the parking lot.  I noticed there's even a Wifi spot set up in the Blimpie's inside the store.  Think they are catering to the RV crowd?  I do.

Wal*Mart used to refer to these campers as "Customers needing some extra time to decide".  Rule used to be to go in the store and ask permission.

That said, on a Wal-Mart lot, you have lots of light, lots of hot asphalt, no electricity, no water, and everyone who can running a generator.  Most Wal-Marts seem to be adjacent to heavily travelled highways or roads.  Doesn't appeal to me...

An alternative for those willing to put up with the above, is to seek out abandoned Wal*Marts or Sam's Clubs.  Wal*Mart figures that they will replace a store every 7-8 years, so most places that have a Super Wal*Mart has an abandoned one somewhere in the vicinity.  Sam's offers closing at a decent hour vs. 24 hours that most run.

(I used to work with my company's Wal*Mart support team)

Quote from: KRZYVOLFAN...We are planning a long trip out to Chama New Mexico next year and since its a 2 day drive i'd love to stop overnite in a walmart  parking lot so I can drive later, see to set up, and save a dollar or so.

You are kidding, right?
