$$ off TV MSRP?

Did a search, but cannot find it. I'm sure it has been rehashed.

With the '07 trucks on the lots, how much should I expect, percentage-wise, to get off the sticker price on an '06? They aren't dealing on the '07s.

In other words, what's the minimum I should at least be interested? 10%? 20%? More?

Just curious ... why figure it as a percentage off sticker?  Why not find the invoice price and tack something on to that?

I think you will have more bargaining power with the american made models.   When I bought our Dodge Ram they were jumping thru hoops to get my business.  I pretty much named my price.   My offer was $10,000 less than sticker and they didn't bat an eye.

Give Edmunds.com a go.

You can find latest rebates, figures for true market values (what others may be paying) MSRP and Dealer cost plus lots of other good info there.

Chevrolet has about a $5000 rebate on the 06' Silverados but not a lot on the 07's.

If you belong to Consumer Reports, their April issue is the car issue and a lot of good pointers on negotiating a good deal.  You may be able to get a copy of last years at your library.

The difference between msrp and dealer cost varies from type of vehicle.  The difference on a pickup truck may be over $2000 but a small sedan may be less than $1000.

From what I have read, $300 to $500 over dealer invoice is a good deal.

If you are buying without a trade-in, you will do better.  Most places will lowball your trade in.

Saturn and Scion vehicles are sold at the sticker price.  That is their selling method.

When I bought my Scion, I couldn't even get the dealer to throw in a set of floor mats.  Got them on line for $50 less than the dealer's price.

Good luck with your quest.

By the way, what kind of tv are you looking at?  Seems to me that a minivan may be needed for the new camper. :)

Close. 4 door half ton trucks, particularly the Chevy 1500's, as they are the most comfortable to Holly's arthritis.

If you are serious about the Silverado, may I suggest you seriously consider the 5.3 engine and not the 4.8 if you are planning on getting a larger camper down the road.

My 4.8 does do the job with the Kiwi but on long hills, the extra power would be nice.

We have put over 60,000 miles on the Silverado and we do like it.  Quiet and comfortable on long trips.  Been relatively problem free except for a couple of minor things.  It has 86,000 miles on it now, we bought it used.

I have the 3.73 axle and get about 14 to 17 running around and about 10 to 11 while towing.

My Silverado is the extended cab, not the crew cab and it is comfortable in the back seat for passengers.  I believe that the Chevy has the largest back seat in the extended cab.  This is one reason we bought it.

Don't worry. The 4.8 isn't even on my long list, much less my short list. We have been towing with a heavy load for 5 years now, and I'm tired of it. I want a capable tow vehicle, and the 5.3 is minimum.

I just got a '07 Silverado Classic before Thanksgiving and love it. It is the old body style, but I really like it better than the new body style. Dealers around here are really pushing the "classics" to try to get more of the body style on the road. Mine is a Crew Cab, and the kids, 6 and 12 love the room in the back seat. They liked it better than our Impala on the last trip to FL. Good luck with the new truck, and the new "camper".

There is no "secret" formula -- what you need to factor in is how well the vehicle has sold for the year, how many dealers have on the lots, and (if possible) the "employee pricing".  This is often different from "invoice" prices published.

Ford, for example, has their employee and "X-Plan" (Ford partner companies) pricing.  X-plan is literally only dollars more than employee.  Ford is "invoice" - 0.4% + $75.  The price is non-negotiable.  However, you can also take advantage of all public discounts.

So, if you can find the employee pricing, that is where you start your negotiations - subtracting all public deals and rebates.

Our company is a Ford Partner, so it has been handy.  This past Christmas, we got an e-mail that said we can take an additional $2500 off X-Plan price on 2006 models until Jan 2nd, 2007.

Wow.  That was not what I needed to hear!

So, here I am, on New Years Eve, after my local dealer finally found one...

$8,000 under sticker.  0% financing.
