Well, we dropped a few thousand bucks today! Bought a used '06 Silverado with 9K miles on it. Crew Cab, 4x4, loaded. We've already driven over 200 miles in it.

I came up with an Excel worksheet that does math for me, and helped me to compare trucks. I can't attach it here, so if it sounds interesting, drop me an email at larrycrockett AT comcast DOT net.

I used the worksheet to objectively AND subjectively "score" trucks that I looked at. Helps to compare brands with similar/not similar features. Also helps draw the line between two similar trucks, but with differing mileage and prices, which was what I had the hardest time with.

I engineered this myself, but I bet there is a more accurate version. I just chose what was important to US, and how much a good feature would weigh in the scheme of things. I think I changed it 3 times before I arrived at this particular sheet, but there are a couple of things I might change or add, if I had it to do over again.

Try a fake truck (or your own)...put in the numbers. I have the formulas built in, so it automatically gives you a total at the bottom.

Pretty cool, huh?

I'm sure  you'll like the new TV

Only have 17K on mine but I bought new.(DW liked the color :yikes: )

Mine is loaded, I don't think there is an option that it doesn't have.

Uh, oh, sounds like an upgrade to the "dark side" coming up.....:eyecrazy:

I second that thought.  Congrats and I am very sure that you will enjoy it.  They tow great and are very sturdy trucks.  Best to you with the new truck.

Larry, congrats on your new Silverado! That wasn't easy coming from the Ford camp!

When we're in the market for a new TV, we'll have to check out your spreadsheet. I have my eye on a Lincoln Mark LT...

Ya know, on the way home I realized that I grew up in a GM home, then drove a Nissan for 8 years (no complaints there). We drove all brands (except Dodge, which we realized their seats wouldn't do, but we did sit in Dodge trucks). We really did our research, with our rears, our heads, and our wallets. We weren't really brand loyal; we would have driven a Fiat, had it had comfortable seats and needed tow ratings.

Send me your email address....Just taking a look at the worksheet is pretty interesting, IMHO. It helps to mix some Subjective AND some Objective info, and spit out a score on a particular vehicle.

BTW, the truck we chose scored 101,775 points on our system. I found that trucks in the high 80's to mid 90's were pretty good trucks.
