just thought i would check in and say hello to everybody.  my wife and i just purchased a used coleman colonial and are looking forward to many trips together. for the past few years we have been vehicle/tent campers and enjoyed every minute of it. every once in a while (on the way home from a trip usually) we would stop and check out the new pu's. and dream, even a nice pre-owned unit was still a bit out of our range. well $350 bucks later we are now the proud owners of a early 80's coleman(now registered as an 07'). she needs a bit of love but the canvas and interior are in great shape. the only hang-up i had on purchasing a pu was that im 6'4" and the beds never seem to be long enough. so my first mod was to make one of the bunk ends into a king.

great forum and very helpfull, se ya' on the boards

Welcome to PUT and congratulations on the new camper!  I hope you have may great trips in your trailer.  You should check the condition of the tires.  Small cracks = dry rot.  So even if they have a lot of tread on them they could blow.  The other thing is to repack the wheel bearings, unless they have been done recently.  It is a do it yourself job if you are handy.  Good luck with the camper.:)

OC Campers

Welcome to PUT. This is a great place to find lots of information and meet lots of new friends. If you are looking for a great group to camp with, check out the Sccampers (Southern California Campers). You can find them under camping clubs at PUT.  The best part about this group is we all have something in common.  The love of camping (and having a good time):D
