Quote from: Sue HardeeI think KOA Metro in August would be nice, not too hot. its is a nice place, clean and if we got the grass triangle together the kids could play in the center. there is a pool, gameroom, and bike rentals. But I heard they sold the campground and I havent' been there since its been sold.
This KOA is a nice one but the drive from LA is a bear.  It took us 3+ hours to get there last time which put a bad taste in dh's mouth.  Another thing, I didn't like how they split us up last time so how can we be sure they would keep us together this time.

Quote from: kimrb266I've been looking for another place for us to go and have found 2 suggestions.  I haven't been to any of these campgrounds but they may be somewhere fun to go.

East Shore RV Park in San Dimas (eastshorervpark.com).  Their prices run from $43-$46/night depending on the view and it includes electric/water/sewer.  They are right next to Raging Waters waterpark.

Pomona Fairplex KOA -They are 5 minutes from the waterpark .  If we have  less than 9 trailers the price is $38.12/nite and 10+ trailers, the price is $33/night.  These sites include electric/water/sewer.   This campground also has a pool on the premises in case you don't want to go the the park.

Both of these places have openings for us.  If interested, I'll give wagonmastering a whirl.  I'll have to check the website regarding a pool there.

recent reviews of the KOA not very good see:

here is the review for east shore ..

http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/California/San_Dimas.html

even tho their "star" rating was high you must read what was written: if you go in august you're gonna want to use the pool. 2 out of the the last 3 posts mentions skunks..  :(
I drove thru there and it looks very nice, but would only want the interior sites as the outer edge has a cliff drop-off

Quote from: RecumbentmanThis is a CG that I have to say is very clean and well ran. But since it is right next to the 101 it is loud the whole day and night from freeway traffic. I guess if you are in a hard sided RV and used your air inside you can drown out the outside noise but is that what you call camping.
I personally would not recommend this CG.  :(
Now everyone going up north this coming weekend, you will be driving right past it. So take a look for your self.
As you are leaving Ventura on the 101 heading north, you will come to the Ojai exit, as you past this exit you will be on a bridge crossing a river bed. The riverbed is the southern end of the CG. Get in the right lane and look over the edge and you will see the CG.

PS.....The Ventura County fair is from Aug 1 -12th this year

Thanks Brad..I knew you would have the 411 :p  for anyone that is interested here is the reviews

First, Carol, I love your new Avatar!  What a cutie!

Actually, Lori & I were talking about going to the eastern Sierras.  I've been to the Mammoth RV park & it's okay.  Basically a large parking lot, but there's a ton to do in the area.

El Capitan does have full hook-up sections, but the spaces are so small I had a hard time with my PU.  Anyone with a slide would definitely have trouble.

I'd like to get out of this area at least once this summer.  It would be great if it could be the mountains, too -- does my soul good.

We can talk this weekend ...

:%  :%  I can't commit to travel that far at the end of the summer  :%  :%

How about Big Bear???

cjpoppin

Big Bear has a very good camp ground Serrano with full hook ups which fill up very early in the year.....We ususally go there every year and I put in the first part of the year......They only have one small section with full hook ups....One can always try........I love Big Bear......The showers are pretty good in some areas.....The price is right they're free.......and most of the time even have hot water.....
Glad you liked my Avatar....It took me awhile to get the pics down to the correct size.......My program isn't very good.......carol

BootheBunch

I think I'd be up for Big Bear!  If I had full-hookups!

OC Campers

Did I hear Eastern Sierras??? Yippeeee!! Now you are talking. Just remember it is a LONG drive from So Cal. Bridgeport was 450 miles from Orange County. June Lake might be an option or Toms Place/Rock Creek. There are also a couple of RV resorts in Bishop that would be a little closer for you too. Mono Lake in Bridgeport is also a private place but you will need to dry camp. It is pricey though. Beautiful area with lots and lots of hiking trails.  There is a cg there that is run by the Lower Twin Lakes grocery that has full-hookups but has no shade.  This would work for the folks with air but it might be a little warm for a popup.  It is right next to the showers and laudry which is a plus.

If you want a nice area near Mono Lake then I suggest "Dispersed Camping" near Mono Mills off 120.  Free, forested, private, free.  No facilities of course.

I'd love to make that one but we are always up to dry camping. Many people in this group are just not into it. Maybe we should consider a "Dry camping ralley" for those that want to do it. Although, I don't think there will be a lot of takers. :p

Mono Lake is close to Bridgeport and our daughter's family lives there. It would be GREAT for us.

Just another suggestion.  Annett's mono village is a beautiful campground with  full hook ups and it close to bridgeport.  Great fishing and lots of wildlife.
