Old propane tank, what to do?

I changed out my old tank at Home Depot last spring. They don't care what type of valve you have either. I think all I payed was $20 and walked away with a new full tank.

I used to take my tanks to the local propane dealer here and they charged a flat rate to refil (whether you were empty or not).  I usually will take my tanks at the beginning of the season for a top off.  They're usually not empty, but I'd rather have a full tank going into a season then being on a trip and realizing I barely had any left in there.

I saw the local U-Haul place filled propane and they charge you by the pound, which works out better for me.  Plus they give you a sticker if you put it on your tank, you get a buck off your next refill.
