You guys just don't get it.:p

I put a 100X300 tarp over my house and driveway and it keeps the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. I no longer have to shovel snow from the driveway or walkway in the winter.

I'll bet I double the life of the shingles on the roof.:J

Wow!  Sounds great...and sounds tremendous when the wind blows...literally tremedous.

Charlie I hope you have the solar panels on top of the tarp and not under it.  You will not get much energy if the solar panels are under the tarp.:D

I get the point. When I tent camped in the Smokies, it rained a lot and the more tarp coverage you have, the better.  Along with what some others were saying, yes tents and pop-ups are made to get wet, but extra dry areas around a camper or tent is much appreciated in a 3 day  non-stop rain. I have seen a few do this with pop-ups. The purpose I heard you make was to have extra dry areas around the camper and to save the hassle of drying the popup after returning home.  I will do this next trip to the Smokies since I have never been without at least a days rain.

You should get a 150' x 400' tarp to keep your tarp from getting wet and/or sun-rotted. :sombraro:

The problem with that is that he'd have to keep replacing the 150' x 400' tarp.  I think he'd be better off building a fixed roof over his existing tarp to get it to last longer.  I bet with a fixed roof over it, it would last indefinitely!  :)

The only problem with that is, he would put a tarp over the new roof to protect it :J After all, nothing lasts indefinitely. :sombraro:
