How hard is it to replace the vinyl floor?

I have a 12ft popup with a slide out. I was wanting to know if the slideout will have a hard time sliding over the vinyl if I install it over the existing floor. Or do I need to pull the ols vinyl up first. Anything I should know about from your experience? Thanks in advance!

I do not know how much clearance you will have with the slide out, but you could put a section of old vinyl on top of the flooring and then slide in the slide out.  Then you would know if you have enough room.   One thing you might want to know, in case you do have to remove the old vinyl flooring is that the flooring is installed first and the cabinets are built on top of it.  If I were replacing mine I would cut out around the cabinets.  Good luck on your project and if you can take pictures and post them for us to see.:)

I'd cut out around the cabinets too. Scrape off the old vinyl, glue down the new vinyl then put 1/2" quarter-round moldings along the edges to make a nice finished job.

I think that I would put some Dap caulking under the quarter-round to keep spilled liquids from finding it's way through the cracks and into your sub-floor. I'd also caulk all the joints.

If you cut the vinyl clean and accurate enough, you may be able to get away with just running a bead of caulking around the edges, instead of using the quarter-round moldings. That would take some real careful measuring though. Any more than an 1/8" gap would be hard to make a neat job.

If you cut around the cabinets, and can get the old piece out in one piece, you can use it as a template. Just place it on the new vinyl and trace around (Try to trace 1/8" bigger all around as the vinyl has a tendency to shrink after you pull it off). If it is still a little big you can always trim it down. I used to refurbish ambulance interiors ( very similar to campers!) and we did lots of vinyl floors. Start in the doorway and use a wide scraper with a long handle if possible. If any wood comes up with the vinyl just fill it in with bondo and sand it down. You should be able to do the whole job in a weekend. Hope this helped.

My wife wants to go with something really nice looking like a marble look.....I honestly dont care, but we gotta keep mama happy. I will take before and after pics and post. Thanks for the info!
