PopupGizmo

Hi All,

We ran this thread over on PUX and wanted to run it here also. So if you've already seen this and offered your input, thanks. And to those who haven't, thanks for reading.

Some of the old timers may remember when I asked a variation of that question many years ago. Well, we're at it again.

We're looking to develop a line a storage cases designed in particular for campers. These would be of a very tight weave, water proof, acrylic coated material.

First idea we had was a carrying/storage case for the PopupGizmos covers. We're looking for your feedback to se if there would be any interest in this item. Price wise, we're going to use our highly precise, quantum physics formula to make sure we get it right. (Formula: "Would I pay that for that???")

Your thoughts on the idea...any interest?

Also, if you have a storage/case idea that might be feasible...made out of the material I described, what is it? You never know. we've grown to the point where if it's sewn, we can make it.

As always, thanks to everyone.

Regards,

Bob Pitney

OC Campers

I don't think we would use a carrying case for the gizmos.  We usually fold each panel up and put it under each bunk end mattress.    We might be interested in a carrying case for our dutch oven.   Or a case to hold all the DO accessories.  Another item we would be interested in buying is a carrying case for the larger "grill to go" or Camp Chef cook stands.  We usually put ours back in the cardboard box but the box deteriorates.

I would be interested in a case for my Coleman stove top drip coffee maker. Cardboard box is losing its shape and falling apart.

I think that a nice case for the Gizmos would be (and should be) a classy touch. However, at the price that you charge for them, it may be an insult to offer a carrying case at an additional charge.

Just my 2 cents worth.

If you want to get into offering cases for other items, that's a good idea. There are a million different sizes and shapes of cases that you could build for many different items (BBQs, grills, lanterns, Dutch ovens and accessories, tools, Bal levelers, other leveling devises, trailer hitch parts, pole bags)........... I could go on and on. However, charging for a case for the (already pricey) Gizmos may be a bit tacky.

I used to have a custom canvas manufacturing business. I made all sorts of custom covers for the boating market (out of Sunbrella). If you will build cases to order, it may profitable. I would suggest making a very precise, detailed order form that someone could give you the measurements of what they want to enclose and the dimensions that they want. Be sure to put a disclaimer, in case you are given the wrong dimensions.

Here is my two cents worth.......
If I could purchase an envelope style carry case for my quality Gizmo covers I would order one TODAY.
We have used the same set of Gizmo covers for our previous PopUp that we are now using on our Hybrid and the covers still look new and work fantastically! We've used them in 90+ weather and in 15- weather and they were invaluable each and every time.
I do like the idea of custom sized carry cases but this might be more of a headache than a money maker.
Please keep the ideas coming because I'm always on the lookout for quality camping items.
Thank you PopUpGizmo,
Cheryl

I remember your original post.:)  I have been leaving my covers on the bunkends when popping down, so i don't think I would want a case for the covers.  I do like bags and things, so I would be interested in other items.  I know the quality will be there.  How about a bag for the BAL Leveler?:)

BTW.

We sewed our Gizmos on. Actually, it might be better stated that we "Tied" them on. I just ran a thread through the binding tape (on Gizmo and PU bunk top), brought the 2 ends around and tied a square not. It looks cleaner and I don't have those clamps sticking out everywhere.

If I take the Gismos off to clean them, it will be easy to match up the holes and run a new thread through them because I used a big needle. I will just need to mark the Gizmos so that they go on the same way that I take them off. Of course, I won't be able to turn them over but I never do anyway. I always leave them silver side up (this is SoCal you know :p ).

One more vote for a case to hold the Bal leveler.

I have Linx levelers.  They come with a case, but the Stop 'N Chocks which are made to work with them do not.  I would buy a case for those.  The main issue with both the BAL leveler and the Lynx is that they get pressed onto the ground, so they have dirt on them when you go to put them away.

What she said.

I wouldn't use a case for my bunk end covers.  I have a seat right inside the door and I just leave them there so they are easy to get when setting up.  Us short people need to start clipping them on before the top is all the way up!

I would also consider something to put my tabletop propane grill in.

My thoughts exactly.  I made a fabric case to go around the original box (for grease containment), but then the box got wet and it doesn't work as well.  It would need to be something with some structure to it though.

How about a duffle bag-sort of mechanism equipped with hooks, clips, whatever for use on top of the pup behind the AC or on top of the TV... Many pup owners are pushed for storage space...

Some people may want a roof top bag, but I like keeping my BAL inside the PU.:)
