There is a used viking 2107 pop up that we will be looking at soon. On the phone the owner said she thought it was a 94 or 95 model. They are the second owners. But looking at it in person (it's parked on the side of the road at a business) there is a emblem on it saying [Viking 1972 - 2000]. So I think it is a 2000 model. Anyway it is $ 2895 and supposedly everything works. Has stove, furnace, fridge. I can not get there to see it set up for several days. What should I look for? Is this a good price? could anyone tell me how much it weighs? I have a Ford Escape to tow with for now. Thanks for any help.......shredder

Make sure all moving mechanisms (roof, beds, etc.) move freely.

Check the floor carefully for soft or spongy spots.

Check around the roof for evidence of leaks.

Look for signs of mildew.

Austin Boston's good good advice.  I as a newby would not have thought of the flooring.

The way to check the flooring for rotting, etc. is:  look undernearth for signs that the boards are rotting.  Also walk around on every part of the flooring while the PU is opened up.  I weigh about 220 lbs so it's pretty easy for me to feel some sagging etc. as I step.

As far as price, check out NADA.com.  Nada has a consumer price guide for RV's and you can see what it's worth.  You'll need to know the details such as AC, Furnace, awning, etc. to make it accurate.

I'd make the owner give you the time to check everything and demonstrate that it works.  AC, furnace, everything try it out.  Also, ask if they can show any repairs done, when wheel bearings were last repaced and brakes adjusted, etc.  Those are important items to know before you tow it home.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, as luck would have it, I will be checking out a Jayco 1006 soon too. Both will have to wait till the weather in MI clears though, it's too rainy to look now. The Jayco is newer and more expensive, but has more options, like hot water heater. Is hot water while camping all that important? Anyone care to offer an opinion on these two campers?       Shredder
