What is a good source to get info on campgrounds in certain areas?  For vacation this year, we're thinking of going camping at the seashore in either VA, NC, SC, AL, or the FL panhandle.  I'd like to find a source of what campgrounds are available in these areas and what amenities are available.  Any help would be appreciated.

I live in Pensacola and we have family in Louisville who come down to the panhandle every summer for vacation (usually St. George Island).  Check out the FL state parks in the panhandle for camping: http://www.floridastateparks.org/FindaParkRegion.cfm?Dist=Northwest.  I have camped at St. Andrews and it is very nice.  Grayton beach, Henderson Beach, and Topsail Hill SP's have very nice beaches (nice white sand, pretty water).

most states have pretty good websites listing the locations and ammenities in their respective parks.  But if you're looking for all the campgrounds (private and public) you'll need a guide book like AAA or Good Sam's Club publish.  You may have luck Googling "camping NC, SC FL etc coast"  If they have a website, Google will probably find it.

Google Philpott Lake for a great spot in VA.  It's an Army COE, and was just redone about 4 years ago.  The Goose Point area has some wonderful spots right on the lake...and the sites are big enough for our pup, a screen room, and an extra tent, if needed.

Douthat State Park is just about as nice, with some really nice lakefront spots.

I like the EPGSoft map as well.  If you have a favorite campground that isn't on the map, you can add it; there is a link and a form, and some time after you submit you will get an email from the site owner confirming.

If you find one that is in the wrong location or has wrong info, you can help them fix it by reporting it.  That site is only as good as users make it.
