question on starcraft axle

I have a 86 starcraft with a torsion axle that i just bought, and it seems to tow really rough, do these axle break or is this how it should tow when the camper is not loaded? I noticed that if the road is rough the trailer will bounce to where i can see air under the  tires.  Thanks for any help i could get.

That certainly seems excessive!  With my previous trailer torsion suspension experience, it always seemed they were smooth going over the road, empty or with a load. As I understand from Starcraft tech services all they (Starcraft) have ever used is Dexter axle systems.  You might give Starcraft tech services a call but I'd just about bet they will refer you to Dexter.  I've e-mailed Dexter for suspension information before and they have always responded promptly.
