Hello Everyone, I tried to get a couple of answer here awhile back with no luck. So here it goes again. I bought at a grage sale a canvas awning with attatchable add a room. This is very heavy. I wish I would have got someting lighter but for the price I'm gonna give it a shot. It came with no poles and doesn't have a brand name on it. Does someone here have one of these heavy all canvas add a room/awnings here and could send me pics of it set up or a link to an all canvas site. Again this is very heavy and the room does have canvas floor attached. Someone help it's almost time to camp.

Cant say I've seen what you describe but I've had a very big canvas tent in the past.  The tent is long gone but I kept all the poles and supports. I've used them quite a bit over the years for tarping up and now I use some of them in a home made awning systme that came out quite well.  I found a link to buy some of the telescoping poles I use now and with some creativity I think you could use them too.

Good luck.

I also grew up with the old fashioned heavy canvas tents that used poles similar to the ones above - and my '73 starcraft has three poles that are almost identical to those for it's awning.  So if you can figure out how to attach the room to the camper, those poles should work just fine.  you will probably need a couple of ropes to stake out the corners, also - to hold the poles up against the weight of the canvas.

It's probably pretty similar to setting up a large canvas party tent, like your rent for yard parties?  Our Boy Scout troop has a couple they rent out for fundraisers, if I can get a photo of one of them, I'll post it, so you can see how it's put up - it's really not hard.

I see my local Wally-Mart has the "adjustable height poles"  -  (in the sporting goods section, around where the tents are)  -  that extend up to 8' and they have a price of $6.99 ea on them.  Also, Cabelas have a better looking one (and for more money) and one model can extend to 10' ~

Love them yard sales. Sometimes you can pick-up a real useful bargin, but then sometimes you can end up with simply relieving someone of their albatross.
