To Bearing Buddy or not to Bearing Buddy

Hello all, a friend of mine is thinking of putting Electric brakes on his 99 Jayco Heritage. He has Bearing Buddies on the hubs now and asked me if he should put them on when he gets the new brake setup. My camper has electric brakes but I don't have Bearing Buddies (I repack my bearings every year). I just have this fear of forcing old grease into the drum and interfering with the operation of the brakes. I told him I'd run it by you all to see what everyone else would do. Does anyone use the Bearing Buddies with their electric brakes? Thanks!

Bearing buddies are not  "Harmful" they are just not helpful on a PU. They are great on a boat trailer because you can give the hub a shot of grease that will force any air out of the hub, before immersing the trailer in water. I recommend not immersing the PU trailer in that same way. :p

The only negative that I can think about having the Bearing Buddies on a PU is that it may give the owner a false sense of security. There is NO substitute for a yearly bearing inspection. Especially if the trailer is not moved often. If the trailer is moved once a week, you may be able to go for several years without a repack.
