And if you can't make the entire weekend, just come on Saturday and join us for the day and for the potluck. There have been several times that I join the group for just the day. It is not quit camping, but as close to it as you can get. Hope to see you there.  BTW, I am also a nurse. :eyecrazy:

diane

How close is that to Dorney Park? My daughter's Girl Scout troop is camping near there on that weekend. Perhaps if it's close I could pop over to meet everyone :D .

diane

I did a map-quest, it's about 50 miles so I probably won't make it over :( .

tlhdoc

Well if anything changes your welcome to show up.:)

SheBantam

Well Diane, we re close enough, we can get together sometime.

Tracy and I are going to be at Cunningham Falls SP in MD (south of Gettysburg PA) for Columbus day, not sure if there are any sites left, but you would be welcome there also. That is with Popupexplorer.com and the Midatlantic group there. I know that is a drive and no real good way to get there from where I am...Turn Pike (north) or Baltimore (south)...

diane

Thanks for the invite. If I can find an easy route to the PA camp and there are enough chaperones for the day in dorney park withthe girls, maybe I can try to come while the kids enjoy rides. I'm hoping that we don't have another soccer tournanent on Columbus day wekend (as we do this weekend, 4 games). I love the fall for camping and if I still have the pop-up that is what I will use. I feel sooooo much more comfortable pulling it over the hybrid (and I won't need air conditioning).

SheBantam

Yes, I will admit there is a difference pulling the hybrid, even a small one and the popup.  With the Jayco popup I never had a sway bar as they Jayco bounces, and really does not sway.  The Aliner, though not a popup is the same width as the popup, and believe me, I do not care what anyone says, I cam really tell the difference with the width. I too feel some better with the narrower trailer.  I believe that there is 6 or 8 inches difference in width, and the newer ones are a full 8' wide...too wide for me thank you!!!

The wind resistance ith the hybrid is worse and the sling shot effect is bad.  But it is something you get used to, REALLY!  Just tighten down that sway bar and head on out...you should not back with a sway bar on.
I did at Three Seasons, the other side of Woodstown and snapped the specially made ball...Slicers had it re-welded at no charge.  Most of the time, you mess up the frame of the trailer.

What I like about the cheaper sway bar at Camping World is that it is easy to get on and off. The one on the Bantam, stays on the Bantam, it is too hard to get it on and off, I just bungee it up when parked. It is the more expensive one at camping world.

I think that you will feel a lot better towing the hybris once you have one on.  I came across the DNB that Sunday I snapped the ball and I was scared to death, I ahd never driven the Bantam  without it, and I could tell the difference.
On one of the Gettysburg trips a couple of years ago, I had to pull off and tighten the sway bar, now I keep it vvery very tight, especially when expressway driving.

I have towed both the Jayco popup and the Bantam to Indiana to visit family, went to Cherokee NC last year for our week long Rally, Bath NY this year, Down I 81 in VA a few years ago, and the first rally with the Bantam was at Townsend TN, about 30 miles form Dollywood.  I do almost all the towing, Raymond, if he is with me may drive for an hour, but usually he does not.

AM I brave or just crazy???  Not sure, maybe a little of both.

SheBantam

That is what i like about Becky, she calls them as she sees them.

HersheyGirl

But Paula, that is why we love you.

SheBantam

I guess...how many others do you know with a spring form pan, and gravy boat in their camper as well as the festival were I came with my antebellum outfit and could not fit through the camper door because of the hoop slip??

Diane, I have a friend who works near the Cabellas in PA and they were having their Hamburg Days festival and encouraged dressing up. It happened to be our Locust lake Weekend which is about 30 minutes from Hamburg, so I did both!!! I don't usually carry a costume with me, though I have a closet full of Ren wear...and am a Lord of the RIngs buff, Bantam has a VCR and the full VHS extended edition...Well maybe for Renn Fair...Anybody game for a campout near Hershey in Oct??I have dresses to share...I'm safe and not dangerous...really

diane

Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun. I'll have to see what the kids have scheduled once school starts :book: . They are both involved in way too much (they wear me out).

We are looking also for Aliner as we live by Ft. Washington exit of PA turnpike.  We love Locust Lake as we have spent over 20 years popupping there or taking a long day trip there now that the kids are grown and married.  Locust Lake is 90 miles away (about two hours).

Quote from: debbiedee1957I am reading through some older posts and it seems that you have traded to an ALiner!!! Wow we bought one this spring and love it!!!!!!!

Are you going to Locust Lake in Sep?  We can compare ALiners

Welcome to PUT.  If you are interested in camping with a group, feel free to join us on any of our trips.:)

Welcome also, the more camping, the merrier.

I got mine in Apollo PA at Schrecks. Nice people.  Aliner (the company) though is a pain in the behind to get information from.  Asked customer service about an awning, the answer was "yes, it is blue". No price, no pics...I wanted info about how to carry the spare tire, as it is fastened under the bench. "yes we have them, room for 2 spares..." They never would send a pic or tell me where the heck there was height for a spare, this camper sits low.  Aliners are also tortion axiles, and cannot be "flipped" to add extra height (which would be nice, since the Cabin A has a wet bath, thus gray and black water tanks, like my Bantam and the sewer lines are mighty close to the ground. I would have to buy a new axile, which would give about 2" height increase, but a loss of stability.

Stolfutz in West Chester also sells Aliners, but mostly they order them and rarely have any in stock, same with Schreck.

I really like my Cabin A, it is perfect for one, good for 2.
