Do you wax your popup?

I have had my Starcraft popup for almost two years. I try to keep my popup clean and wash it regularly. I am just wondering if I should wax it and if so what types of wax do you use?

Any automotive wax should do fine.

Dirt is the enemy of any paint. When you look at your paint under a microscope it is actually not smooth at all. It is full of deep valleys and rugged hills. The valleys fill with debris (dirt) and a lot of it is organic. The organic compounds die and bacteria forms and dies and that whole mucky mess turns to acid which attacks your paint.

Washing any painted surface, often, is good. However, putting a protective coat of wax on the surface, fills those ugly valleys and allows most dirt nowhere to cling to and it falls off. The wax is not as strong as the paint so it must be washed regularly and re-applied once a year or so to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Thanx for the reply. I didnt know if the "texture" made a difference so I asked.

The texture makes little difference. I would just recommend doing your waxing by hand. Using a buffer on a textured surface may end up doing more harm than good. You're not going to achieve a "High gloss" finish, no matter what you do so hand waxing should be quite sufficient.

 I almost never use a buffer. I guess I am old school at heart when it comes to waxing.

I don't even wash my popup.  Six years straight.  My popup should be for relaxing, not more work!!

I wash mine all the time and hand wax twice a season (beginning and end).

I enjoy myself more at night sitting at the fire with my camp clean,ship shape, my yard at home mowed,trees trimed and all choirs done. This way I dont feel guilty  and  sleep better knowing I have everything wired tight!
