From my last post I see some of you made your own. The problem I have is not being able to find stainlesssteal ferrells. At the top end I have to use a ferrell due to space. The cable rating is 300+ pounds rating and says no for aircraft controls which I wonder if that has a higher load range. Are you using the SS cables from HD. Lowes. ACE with aluminum ferrells?

Thanks again

yes - I used the alum ferrules.  Mine came in a set of two ferrules and two end caps per package.  the cap goes on the end to finish off the wire, and supposedly, is a help to keep it from pulling thru the ferrule if it should, for some reason, slip.

I work in a 'farm store' and have seen customers put alot of weight and pressure on these, way more than they are rated for.  And while the manufaturer will tell you not to use them for overhead suspension, or lifting,  Iv'e never seen or heard of one coming apart.  Usually the cable itself breaks from wear first.

I've never seen steel ones in the store - I'm pretty sure the ones Starcraft uses are aluminum, too.

I did see someone post a good idea that I wish I had used, though - he said to divide your wire in two, and bend the loop BOTH ways, re-twist them together and then cap it with the ferrule.  This seemd to me to be a great way to increase the loop's strength, while making it harder to come apart, and thinner inside the post, too.

I'll see if I can find a link to it.....
