How to support the bed - need suggestions

Last year we were camping at Long Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. At 5 am while it was pouring rain we heard a crunching sound and then the bed on one side slipped out and there was about an 8 inch gap at the corner. Luckily the bed was still held in on the other side. It turned out that the 2 screws which held a plate in which kept the bed from sliding out were sheered off.

I have replaced the broken screws with bigger ones.  I have also added an extra plate at each corner so that if one does break off we have a back up.  I may be sounding paranoid but I don't want my bed to slip out again.

I suspect that the wiggling of the bed may have caused the screws to weaken over time.  Does anyone use extra supports for the bed in addition to the supports that go from the bed to the trailer?  I am thinking of using something that goes from the ground to the bed that would help support and stabilize the bed.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any thing you use would have to be adjustable.  The ground under the PU can be at different levels.  Some sort of telescoping poles would be my suggestion.:)

unless, of course, it's the bed over the trailer tongue - then you can add supports to the bed from the tongue......

My buddy bought a used pup about two years ago, and it came with supports the owner made.  It was made from PVC pipe, one larger diameter, and one slightly smaller diameter for each support.  The small one slid inside of the larger one.  Then, he drilled holes through them every couple of inches, and had a pin go through to hold it there.  These seemed to work pretty well.

How about using a pair of these cargo bars  at each corner of the bunk beds  :D
