I have a 1996 Shenandoah with an ABS roof, and it is quickly deteriorating. I have one section of the roof that is almost crumbling, and I am at a loss as to the best way to go about fixing it.

I am thinking that the easiest way may be to put a fiberglass patch over the area. Does anyone know if fiberglass will work on ABS?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain! Use to have a '96 Yukon that sported the ABS roof and it began to sag and I was lucky enough to sell it (told the new owner all the facts but he still bought it!) and now have an aluminum roofed Starcraft. It will dent, but no sag! (LOL)

Rather than going with the fiberglass resin route I think you'd be better off with a two-part epoxy filler that was formulated for plastics and especially ABS. I know of one person who used this product on his ABS roof and it worked out real well at the time but he has since sold the unit and has a newer (non-ABS roofed) popup, so we're unable to give you an updated how it's held up over time.

The product he used was called "Rigid Parts Filler", made by Rubber-Seal Products in Dayton, Ohio ~ their telephone numer is 800-257-6547 ~
Hopefully their still in business, the phone number is good and they still make the product.

It comes in a 2-part kit, (two 5 oz tooth paste tubes of product, one is the actual stuff and the other is the activator and you mix equal parts together). Got about 10 minutes to do what your going to do with it and then it starts to set-up kinda fast. You mix a batch on a mixing board, then use a bondo spreader to apply it

If your interested, give that number a call and ask to speak to a technical rep and see what's necessary to prep the roof other than cleaning it. They would have all the materials and should be able to tell you exactly what to do, step by step.
