I have a brand new (used) pop up that needs to go camping. Looking for the best places in south florida to camp. I would like to stay close to home for the first couple trips. I live in palm beach and would prefer to go north rather than south. I have 2 daughters 9 and 13 so activities are a must, canooing, fishing, swimming and more if possible. Nature including animal siteings are a plus. I am open to just about anything within a 3 hour radious. Thanks in advance.

I have to agree with  Limejeeep.

Florida has some great state parks that are reasonably priced, well taken care of and generally have enough activities to do.   Hiking trails and some of the ranger talks are well worth it.

I would suggest that you make reservations.

I owuld agree to stay close.  There is a county park near Plantation I think it is called Markum Park, or something like it.  Lots to do there.  I hear they have level sites and swimming and a shooting range, although not all in the same location wthin the park LOL.

How far away is the Ocala National Forest?  It's one of the best spots around for canoeing or kayaking.  I would think the hiking trails would be outstanding.  Most likely it would mean dry camping, and it may take a bit of time before you're dry camping capable.  ONF would certainly be worth the effort.

Yes, Ocala is beautiful but a bit far from South Florida for a short trip.  Also remember to bring gallons of OFF for those mosquitos that have to have permission from the FAA to land in the Ocala National Forest.LOL
