Received an email this a.m. with a Subject of "Sent From PopUp Explorer Message Forum by Fred".  It was a rather long note from a Wilfred Coulibaly from Ivory Coast West Africa - I will not go in to detail but it is a classic business scam.  He needs my help investing 9.5 million dollars in this country which he received from his late father, Chief Coulbaly who was murdered recently by rebels - asked for my email and "fiscal" address.   I just wanted to alert folks and I am curious if anyone else got anything similar  I of course expect to get rich on this deal. :screwy:

I got this yesterday. A lot of people on the popup explorer forum received it.

This has been around for a long time.  It IS a scam and must work because they keep trying.  It's commonly called the Nigerian scam or something like that.  You can do a search for it in snopes.com  Here it is.

Don't worry about it, just e-mail me $10,000 and I'll fly out there to get your money and bring it back to you. $10,000 is nothing compared to the millions you'll have in your hot little hands when I'm back...

We got lots of scams from PUX when we advertised our 05 Niagara in their Classifieds.   I got tired of dealing with them and pulled my ad and haven't had a scam since.  I advertised on RVtrader.com and sold our trailer.

As much information that is out there about these types of scams there are people still falling victim to it. A college aged woman in my town is out $2500 due to this type of scam.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time conjuring up sympathy for people that fall for that stuff....especially young people. I can understand it with elderly people that are having some discernment and decision making issues but young people :eyecrazy:

Think "bimbo" or "nerd."  Of course, this still doesn't really conjure as much sympathy from me as it does amusement.
