Hello,

We just got back from our first PU camping trip. Everything went great, but the only problem was the water. After we checked in at the office we went and filled the camper with water, drove to our campsite and set up. I went inside to use the water and i pumped and pumped forever and could get nothing out. I could feel and hear the suction. But i just could not get the water to come out. So today before we left i had to craw under the camper to drain all the water i put in, i didnt want to drive home with it full of water. Can anybody help me out? We have a 2000 Coleman Cheyenne..

Thanks
Jamie

I suspect you have an air leak on the feeding line from the tank to the pump. Coleman's have been bad about plastic water line elbows spliting. Have no idea if this could be your problem, but if it is ... replace it with a brass elbow from the hardware store! Also, after awhile those plastic water hoses will start to deteriorate, especially if they are not used much.  Anyway, check for an air leak.

Could also be worn internals in the pump assembly.  The pump not only has to "suck" from the tank, but it also has to have a sort of "check valve" action so the water it's sucked up is forced onward to the faucet.

Problem could possibley be kind of like the one I had when I got my pup. If the gally sink folds down there should be a valve to turn the water off. This is to keep it from siphoning the water from the tank but it really depends on where your tank is located.

Where would the valve be?  I have looked all over and didnt see anything, but maybe i missed it.   I still do get little beeds of water coming out, but i have to work hard just for that.

My camper is much older so this may not be relevant, but I just put in a new pump and had the same problem.  I pumped and pumped and nothing happened.  I could look at the water line and see it wasn't moved, but I heard the pump pumping.  My Low Boy Pump has three in's for hozes on the bottom.  city water, manuel pump and electric pump.  Since I don't have an electric pump I left that one alone and that was what was messing me up.  As soon as I covered that hole it worked great.

I don't know much about PU's yet, but it just struck me that we had the same issue so maybe that helps.
