Propane Tank Cover

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2005 Fleetwood Newport that has the factory installed tank cover (diamond plate bottom with the plastic cover). Upon returning from our last trip, I noticed that the cover was leaning to one side. Upon inspection, I found that the aluminum (thin and cheap) has completely broken around one of the mounting bolts and there were cracks all around the other mounting bolts.

Does anyone know of any mods that have been done to correct this problem?? Or has anyone replaced the factory cover with some sort of aftermarket cover??

I like the look of the factory cover, so I will most likely remake the lower portion out of some heavier (thicker) aluminum diamond plate.

Thanks

I would start by checking with a dealer to see if it is under warranty.  That would get you a new cover, and at least some models still have the diamond plate so you should be able to get that.

On the other hand, if the design is defective, or if the craking was caused by something being slightly out of spec on your trailer, then the problem would just come back.

I just looked at the Fleetwood site, and agree that diamond plate as a nice look to it.
