I am new to pop ups. I have a 1986 scamper and the support poles that hold out the ends are missing. I call them sheperds hooks, they go from the inside of the roof to the cross members on the ends. Can anyone help me figure out how I might make them?  Thanks to all who post...

You could try making them out of PVC, or see if another brand's poles would work.  Good luck with finding a replacement.:)

Welcome!

Forum member Wavery suggested using electrical conduit pipe.  It's about the same diameter, bends easily so you can buy or borrow, or rent a conduit bender to make the hook portion, and it's probably stronger than the originals.  So go visit your local building supply and git-ur-done!

I'm betting standard shephards hooks will work.  You may have to travel far and wide to find some shephards to steal them from, but they should work when you do get them.  I'd advise dressing like sheep and sneak up on the shephards to steal their hooks while sleeping.

Seriously, I'd say the standard hooks will work.  They are adjustable and look to be a standard part for the past couple decades.  Try your local RV dealer or try Ebay if you are trying to go original.

I have no idea what yours look like but here is the one that I made out of conduit and a pipe bender for my Coleman PU:
