As you know, camping during the summer with the sun beating down on your pop-up, can cause the bunk ends to get very hot causing your entire camper to be uncomfortable during the day, even while running the AC.

About four years ago I solved this problem by purchasing the often talked about Popup Gizmos Bunk End Covers. They work great, except if you leave them at home.

This happened three weeks ago when we were camping in Florida and it was hot. Well here's my useful tip for you.

I always keep a supply of the $1.99 silver emergency blankets that you can buy at Wal-Mart in a little pack in the camper and TV for those camping trips during the winter just in case we are stranded in the elements. Well a little duct tape to tape these things together and a few clothes pins will secure these babies to the top of your bunk ends and within minutes the temperature inside your pop-up will begin to drop very quickly. They don't work as well as the bunkend covers, but if you are in a jam, these little emergency blankets do a great job.

Anyway, that's my tip and I'm sticken to it.

Happy Camping

They do an excellent job, and take up very little space.  The only downside of space blankets is their durability.  Use them once and you may as well throw them away (thankfully, they are cheap).

Good tip.  I guess the only "tiny" warning would be to watch out that they don't rub their silver off onto your bunk ends.

A real set of these covers is absolutely the next money I spend on our PUP.  Having just gotten back from a hellaciously hot trip to the Grand Canyon, I've seen what a PUP can do in the sun and heat!
