Just wondering how many people go to state fairs?

Noticed that Austin and Kelly really seemed to enjoy the Minn one.

DW and I went to the Hopkinton, NH fair last week.  We had a great time although it is not that big of a fair.

One of the most striking exhibits was by the state Fish and Game Dept.

The exhibit was called "Locked Forever."  It was two bull moose that were found in a forest near our town that had been fighting and locked their horns.  Both perished.  A taxidermist did a great job of recreating the scene.

We also noticed tht a lot of the fair exhibitors were using popups while there.  Popups seemed to be more popular than the tt's.  Very few htt's.

We are having a bathroom redone and have to get out of the house for about a week so we have decided to head over to Tunbridge, Vt for the fair there next week.

Since we didn't go to Utah as planned, we decided to make this a fair going fall.

First week of October, we are heading to Fryeberg, Me for the Fryberg Fair.  Last camping trip of the season.

By the way, for those of you who live in Georgia, we enjoyed your fair very much a couple of years ago.  Loved the smoked turkey legs.

From where you are, you want to go to the Big E (Eastern States Exposition), near Springfield, MA:

It hasn't started yet, so there's time for you to make plans.  The Big "E" is more like a regional fair, covering the six New England states, and, from what I understand, is significantly bigger than any state fair in the region.

The state fair down here is pretty suckie, oh it was fun when I was a teenager I guess, but seems to have lost alot of it's sizzle. I have a feeling that the fairs you guys are talking about are much nicer and have something for everyone.

Went to the NY State Fair in Syracuse several times when I was in HS, but not again until last year when I had one of my violin students competing in the talent competition.  She came in second in County Fair making her eligible for State, won her preliminary round at State, didn't make it to the final round.  I had the pleasure of being there to hear her and attend the State Fair that day.  We were camping nearby at the time.

We went to a county fair in VT 2 weeks ago. It was in the Burlington area. We had a good time except for the heat. It was 91 degrees. The food was good, but the rides were high IMO. My daughter and I rode the ferris wheel and it was $5 a piece. The DS an DD rode a small roller coaster twice and that was $5 a ride/each too. Plus $4 for parking and the entrance fee. The only thing that helped was we went on a wednesday when they have a $15 per carload entrance fee with a coupon from Mcdonalds, which we were able to find. Otherwise it would have been over $30 for the 4 of us to go in. We didn't expect to go through money that quickly.
We'll have to be better prepared next time $$$.

I took my daughter to the MO State fair this year. We spent the good part of the day in the trailer because of the heat, which was fine. We just slept the afternoon away. After it cooled down, we went in, ate, I drank beer and listened to Gary Allen play in the arena off in the distance, while she rode all the rides. The camping was crowded (to be expected), but hey...we had a great time, and built another great memory.

The Ohio State fair is my favorite. Just a all around good fair.

Ol' Springfield!
I've had some roudy times up your way. I used to go to the motorcycle flattrack races out there every year at the speedway. I would park my 79 Bronco right on the rail and spend the whole weekend there. I have canoed the (Mad River?) many times in my younger years. Not a bad little stretch of spring fed river, at least until the treatment plant dumped into it. Good memories.
I was the first ever to hunt YellowSprings for deer. I won a raffle and they awarded me two weeks to hunt the area. I did't see one deer! I think the Rangers walking up to my tree stand several times a day to see if I got anything had something to do with it.
Where do you camp in your area?
