AustinBoston

The Canvas RV party and the Committee to elect AustinBoston have announced that AustinBoston has withdrawn his name from the 2008 presidential campaign.

"After the first few days, the campaign just lost steam," he said.  "Besides, it got boring, and I wanted to go back to mixing it up on the Arvee Club.  In fact, I had already done so before the decision to withdraw."

The AB '08 and Canvas RV party would like to thank their supporters, and places their support behind any fringe candidate you may find.  In 2004, there were well over 100 official candidates for president, there should be some other kook to satisfy your craving for lunacy.

The site has moderators.  Would you like to be one of them?  BTW, if you were concerned about bandwidth, you should not have quoted my entire post in your reply.

Maybe Austin was worried that the far out campers group, CampOn.Ugh, might place negative full page newspaper ads about him........

Actually, the group HybridsOnly had obtained evidence that I once stayed in a motorhome.  I thought about the "Yes, but I didn't actually sleep" response, but I thought that would not go over well.

BTW, I'm looking for a publisher for my "kiss 'n' tell" book.

Maybe I was misunderstood.  No slam intended of AB, his campaign or withdrawal intended here.  (Sorry, AB, if you took it that way.)  Actually, I've enjoyed the humor of the whole thing.  I was trying to make light of my current situation, trying to apply humor to something that can be quite difficult to live through.  I've been looking for a place on the forum to apply this bit of whimsy, and thought it might work here.

Read my Surgery thread in the Campfire section if this doesn't make sense.  (Wasn't able to insert link here.)

Another way of "looking" at my current situation:  Hey...I'm on steroids. Maybe now I can play baseball!

I did not take your post badly at all.  I figured griffsdad had quoted the wrong post.

Patient: Hey doc, will I be able to play piano after the surgery?
Doctor: Yes, you will have full use of your fingers afterwards.
Patient: Great! I never could play piano before!

I know, it's an old joke, but maybe it applies...

Change piano to violin and it would be appropriate.  Actually, I am a violinist and play in a symphony orchestra.  I just now returned home from a concert.  Except I was sitting in the audience watching the orchestra play and seeing a sub sit in my seat because of this ordeal.  It was difficult, to say the least.

Had a followup appointment yesterday and it went very well.  I'm able to see 20/150 with the eye at this point through a small bit of vision above the bubble.  The Docs were very happy with that.  I was taken off 3 of the 4 prescription eyedrops I've been taken.  (I'm still on the steroids, so baseball is still a possibility.)  My eye very quickly stopped feeling scratchy.  The pressure in my eye has dropped to a low normal range.   At this point, more of the gas bubble has dissolved, I've got about 40% vision available.   Depth perception is beginning to return and I drove for the first time today.  So...things are beginning to look up.  It's not the end of the road, but it's getting better.
