Just wanted to say "Hi" from the Philly area

WE'RE HOOKED!  I and the crew (7 of us + 2 dogs) just got our new-to-us pup this past August!  Yeah!!! We love it!  We actually bought it off Craigslist from a nice family in Indiana, so we drove from Philly to Indiana and embarked on our 1st ever camping trip which lasted 2 weeks. We went up the Lake Michigan coast and then to the Grand Rapids area to visit family.

Since coming home we've only been able to head out 2 more times (Locust Lake SP & French Creek SP) due to some significant health issues, but we are really looking forward to getting back on our feet and being ready for more fun when the warm weather returns.

Just wanted to say "Hi" but also "thank you" for all the stuff I've learned by spending some time hanging out here on the forum, and also being able to do some "vicarious camping" through reading about some of your adventures & seeing your pictures while I've been under the weather.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has camped on the east coast & your recommendations for good places to camp - especially those that aren't too far from Philly (2-3 hrs).

Looking forward to hearing from ya'll.

Howdy and welcome from a neighbor. My son and I go to French Creek every year for trout opening day. We have a group that likes to to camp at Oak Creek in Bowmansville. Lots of great campgrounds in the Lancaster area.

Thanks for the Welcome, neighbor!  Good to hear there are those in the area involved in this forum.  Thanks also for the leads.  Looking forward to meeting many more!

Hey Oreo57 - thanks for the long-distance welcome!  I'd love to make it out west sometime, but not very realistic right now.  We've got relatives with an avocado ranch somewhere near San Diego.  Maybe we could pitch camp on their "back 40" for a few days :) if we ever do make it out there!

Welcome to PUT and the world of PU camping.  If you are interested in meeting some of the "local" folks, feel free to join COTOC on any or all of our camping trips.  We are listed under the club section of PUT.  :)

Hey  tlhdoc - thanks for the welcome!  I'll check out the COTOC.  I would imagine all of your trips are from Friday to Sunday, correct?  That's a bit of a problem for us since I'm a minister and we can't leave home until Sunday afternoons.  We usually head out then and come back home Tuesday late mornings/early afternoons, but maybe I can take some vacation time for one of the trips.  It would be fun to meet some others who enjoy camping in the area.
Thanks again!

Most of our trips are weekenders, but the Eastern PU Rally is going to be in the Pocono's and that trip you could do starting Sunday.  Check out the Rally forum for more details.  Also some of our group tend to stay over into the week.  MyToys does that on most trips.:)
