Last night, while dealing with my sick 2 yr old at 3 in the AM, this info-mercial came on that actually caught my interest - this stuff called "Mighty Putty" was being advertised.  It looks like a play-dough hot-dog, that when the two colors of putty are mixed together and activated it (according to the commercial) becomes this super-duper strong fix-it- all....

Anyway, before I go and plunk down the $20 to try it, does anyone have any experience with the stuff?  It would seem to be as good as a roll of duct tape for field repairs while camping in the boonies....

Here's the website for anyone who is interested...a chopped down verision of the 1/2 hour info-merical is included.

Thanks!!

I saw Billy Mays advertising it too...I get stuff called Epoxy Putty that looks and acts the same way as this Mighty Putty.  I love that Epoxy putty and use it on all sorts of plumbing stuff...my water is very acid and eats through everything.  It works great and I won't be without it these days.  I also used it on the basement wall to stop a leak.  Worked good to stop leaks in the garbage disposal wall.  My sister bought some and so far has not used it.

Mighty Putty is Epoxy Putty.  I think Mr. Billy Mays even says so during the infomercial.:D

I have used Epoxy Putty from Lowes or Home Depot for years.  It comes in a little plastic test-tube and looks just like the stuff in the commercial.  You cut the amount you need and mix it up.  Last summer I fixed a cracked portable DVD case, and a car passenger mirror.

Wow - and it looks like there are many variants of the stuff, depending on what you need to fix...I'll have to get some and put in the PUP next to the rolls of duct tape!!!

"This amazing polymer based Epoxy Putty is perfect for creating new sculpture or mending pieces. Premeasured, both parts are extruded together, so all you do is cut off the amount you want, knead it, shape it and let it harden. All epoxy putties will bond with most material, and conform to ASTM-D4236.

Each is formulated to a different finish and working time, allowing you to experiment with this remarkable new molding material, or to repair anything from a ceramic mug to your copper plumbing!

I too am a believer and always have a tube of Epoxy Putty on hand.  I get it at NAPA and they also carry the white version that I think is for plastics.  $8/tube I think?

Great stuff and I've done some pretty cool patches/repairs with it.
