Hey guys, I got something I want to run by y'all and get your opinion on. I work at a local dealership in Marion, North Carolina (Tom Johnson Camping Center) in sales, and we are hosts to many rallies and camping clubs all year round but NOTHING for pop ups only. I am a pop up camper myself and would love to see some kind of campout/rally for pop ups only, a rally that will have more than a couple pop ups at a time. I am thinking about talking to the higher ups about trying to get an "all pop up" rally organized! I need some input though, is this something that sounds fun to you? If so, what kind of activities would be fun for everyone, and would some kind of catering be good, or maybe a big ol' cookout? I was even thinking of asking them about some door prizes and things like that. I think that a place with hundreds of camping sites with full hookups and 30 amp service should be put to use by some real camping! They have a real nice dealership and it is a short drive to many attractions like the blue ridge parkway, lake james and many of hiking trails and waterfalls! I think that a bunch of pup campers would have a blast at something like this, sharing ideas and stories and making new friends. Please let me know what you think and any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for anything!

I think a rally would be a great idea. I would attend one if there was one near me. There are certain challenges that come along with owning and camping in a pup so having a place to mingle with other pup lovers would be a great opportunity to get new ideas of how and where to camp.

I think a cookout would be the simplest way to go. Dogs, burgers and chicken maybe.

Keep us posted and let us know if it comes to be.

Yea i think this would be sweet! pop up campers get to be more of a family that anything. I want to sit around a fire and talk about old cars, and where ive been, and want to go and stuff like that, instead of watching tv in a lazy boy in a tt! not that there is anything wrong with that, but ts just not me! I love my coleman pop up and it will stay that way! :D  Thanks for your ideas!

There are rallies with the different camping clubs/groups here at PUT.  I would frown on limiting a rally to PUs only.  Campers are campers and what you camp in shouldn't limit who you camp with.  Some of my friends no longer camp in PUs, and I would really miss them if I chose not to camp with them.  Just my opinion.:)

That's what our group does each year, although I have only been able to make it to one of them. GLPUC has a rally each year in one of the member states, a different one each year. They have a pot luck get together and group campfires. They have had wine tastings and a big thing now for them is the water gun fight. The rally is held near some local attractions some times and other times not. Many of the ones that attend are there for the week. Things like tie dieing t-shirts and other crafts are done. Many who attend have pop up campers but there are a number of them who have moved on to hybrids and TT's .

As we say here in So Cal. "If you plan it...they will camp" :D

Distance has always been a drawback for us. Asheville is central to many states for a long day's drive. I'd consider coming from Richmond.
I also like the idea of PUPs only. My best friend has a TT, and we boondock together most of the time. I'll just leave his butt at home and meet some new folks who have the good sense to pop up camp. :D

I think that would be great. We live in Augusta ,GA and most of the rallies are too far for us to go to, keep us posted on what happens.
