About how long does a popup campers canvas last before you have to replace it (or can you even do this)? Thinking about buying a 1996 viking 1706st just thinking about life span.

Yes, if necessary the canvas can be replaced; figure $600-$800 for the replacement canvas.

Now, properly cared for better than a 20 year lifespan is no unheard of.

But, like many other things if you abuse it or don't care for it and it can go in a few years.

That's a very  good question. I own a 1997 Coleman Santa Fe that I purchased new and my canvas is in very good shape. I keep it clean, I never close the pup and put it away with a wet canvas, I always let it dry out even if that means letting it sit open for a couple of days to do so. I also think that keeping your pop up open unnecessarily exposes the canvas to damaging UV rays.

There is a home that I pass on my way to work and the owner has a popup in their driveway that has been opened for the last 3 months. I can't imagine that that is good for the canvas.

I know of people with popups that have had the original canvas for 25 years. I hope I get that kind of mileage out of my canvas.

Oh yeah, you can replace the canvas on your pup if necessary.

Thanks, New to the world of popups. the sides seem to be in really good shape. and the interior is great. it was stored outside for three years so when down it looks weathered. Any tips on care?

Wash it with "car wash soap", polish it with a good car polish and electric buffer, give it a coat of wax.
