What one little thing can add

As I am still in the learning mode of space management in my pup I thought I would share something that may benefit some of the other newbies out there still trying to get a handle on working with little free space. A woman my wife does work for was getting rid of some stuff and gave her a small wire shelf. It's about 18" long and 6" high. My wife thought that maybe we could use it in the pup. I took the four kids camping yesterday with some of our neighbors out in the desert and threw the shelf in. When we set up I put the shelf on the counter to the right of the stove. (we have a lot of counter space) I was amazed at what a difference that one little shelf made. I put two cereal boxes, a stack of plastic cups, bananas and a small box of water flavoring packets on top and put the paper plates and my coffee and sugar underneath. It freed up space and made things more accessible. I was extremely happy with my new addition. My kids however were totally unimpressed with my ingenuity.

I guess the moral of the story is to try keep trying things until you find something that works for you. Even the smallest thing could make a big difference when space is at a minimum.

OC Campers

One of those ideas hit me a couple years ago too.  I bought a hanging basket set .  It is one of those wire basket thingys that has 3 separate baskets strung together with a thin chain.  I slide the hook into the rail on the ceiling that holds the door up when the top is down.  The baskets hold all sorts of stuff like wallets, keys, dog leashes, glasses, fruit, chapstick, pocket knives and all the little stuff that gets tossed around.

The other storage item that we use all the time is a hanging shoe bag with clear pockets.    I hang it in the bathroom area and it holds all of our toiletries, nail clippers, medicines, hair comb, mirror and any other small bathroom thing that needs a place to go.

Get another shoe bag, cut it into four sections, hang a section in each corner of the pup (where the lifts are). Glasses, change, wallets, keys, flashlight, first aid kit, anything small and annoying on the counter. All within easy reach of the bunk ends. My wife actually puts shoes in one of hers. Pix are in my mod album.

Old camper, new PU user,

Any sugestions for hanging shirts?

I'm not a "preppy" mind you, but I'm more of a Polo shirt rather than t-shirts kinda guy. Even camping I wore more polo shirts than t-shirts.

Your modifications are just GREAT, is that wire rack cliped to the roof holders for the door?  Also on the corner pockets (love them) how did you secure them?

You can install an RV folding Wardrobe Hanger.  Mount it to the ceiling and it has a hanging bar that folds down out of the base.  It is made to for hangers.  You could also take a dow rod and put it on an angle between two of the sides of the camper to make a hang area.:)

Thanks for the reply  :D  . I think I know exactly what you are talking about. When my wife and I had a small duplex we had to use these to make every inch of closet space count. The mods posted here are  priceless  :-() .

I've started bookmarking the ones, and there are many !!!, that I want to adapt to my camper once I can figure out how to manipulate physics i.e. coordinate both time and money to come together at the same time  :D .

I love the vanity. It's exactly what we need. Your pictures gave me some great ideas. I'll take a picture of the shelf next time we go camping.

When I did my original post I didn't expect any replies. I was just trying to give encouragement to other newbies. It just goes to show how many creative people there are out there.

Thank you, you're too kind.
No, the wire shelving is hung on chains attached to the interior A/C braces. Since I took that picture, I've added two more smaller shelves at each end of the main shelf. One for paper plates and cups etc., one above the sink for sponge, dish detergent.

The corner pockets are attached with picture hanging wire. My wife sews and she had some small grommets lying around. Two on each pocket at the top corners. The wire is looped around the screws that hold the valence track. Just back the screws out a turn or two, loop the wire and tighten.

this is great,
some very nice ideas PUers. instead of building a new wardrobe to replace the one that isn't there, i'm going to use one of those hanging wardrobes with like 5 shelves. perfect.... prolly can still keep the porta potty under it when not in use.
