Hi all,
I have a question regarding some kind of powerful drill or whatever to use on this Skamper.  It belongs to my brother and he says, with his bad back, it is too hard to crank up.  He thought he had a powerful enough drill - but no....  any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, I am trying to get him (my bro) interested in PopUpTimes - both this site and the quarterly magazine.  We have been members since our son bought his first popup back in '01, and the dealer recommended PopUpTimes to him,.

I don't post very often, but I do try to remember to check in and read the posts frequently - I love this site!   Usually I am prompted to login ,when I'm longing for a few days of peace and quiet, in our popup, in one of our favorite spots - currently Far West in Santa Paula.

I have been using this one for years:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93632

It's 110v though so it needs to be plugged into the CG electric or a generator. It goes on sale for $39.95 quite often.

I just ordered this one:

A few people on here are using it. It's cordless and affordable (it was $88 last Thursday). I should get it tomorrow so I'll let you know if it works to lift my 12' roof with AC.

There are some other cordless drills that some use but I would rather use my 110v drill than pay $300 for a DeWalt

One of the first mistakes I made with my new pup was to over crank it open and closed.  While paying the bill to have it replaced I was told not to over crank and when letting it down if you listen you can hear it disengage.  I also started counting.  Sixty revolutions up sixty revolutions down.  At 55 I slow down.  I have not had any problems since then.
I would think with a power tool you could mess things up pretty quick.  For what it's worth.
