Hello again good folks....
could I please have your opinions (pro and con) on the coachman clipper and viking pop up's. I'm in the market for a new pup and was planing on a fleetwood utah if I can come up with the bucks, but with the sale of the fleetwood pup divition I'm somewhat hesitant now because of waranty issues. Coachman was my second chose, does anyone have some constructive reviews that might help me make up my mind? Thank you, Peace everyone, Orion.

campnagle

I would not let the sale of Fleetwood scare you, Its the best built coach, in my opinion and will continue production in the same plant with another name badge at worst, My Utah read "Coleman by Fleetwood" and my brother's reads "Fleetwood" I wont bad mouth any other coach but have just two words for you, "lift system" ;)

WolfPack

Hi i owne a 2005 coachmen/viking i like the camper yes it did have a problem with the crank sys viking had a recall to fix it and it was on 2005 and 2006 i thing it was only year. have also owned a dutchmen and a coleman. fleetwood had a problem with the abs roof on some the there campers i thing it was between 2002-2004.viking was good about fixing the crank on the lift sys. and i was the sec owner of the camper so they covered it. but you have pro and cons on any camper. but with fleetwood selling off there popup line i would be cautious.

Done Working

Well we have a 2005 2485 ST Viking. It has been really good. Yes even the lift system has been flawless. (2005 model year.) If the trailer has what you want go for it.

Don't need to discredit other brands as others seem the need to do. Personally I wouldn't do the Fleetwood thing until they could figure what the heck they are up too.

Lets face it, water heaters, fridges and plastic plumbing, tires, it's all the same in all trailers. Don't let brand loyalty sway your decisions.

Used 2B PopUPTimes

I've had about 8 or 9 pop ups and liked them all. Two of them were Coachmen products:

2005 Futura - Originally branded as Coleman (another story). I liked it a lot, especially the sliding front trunk.

2007 Coachmen Clipper 1285 fully loaded - very big, very nice,  - but didn't have the sliding front trunk.  I wouldn't buy another pop up without the sliding front trunk.

Clipper and Viking are made on the same assembly line and are basically identical except for tent colors and decals.

Surely if you do a search under either name, you will find plenty of feedback on both.  More important than the name on the side is the floorplan, and the dealer.  If you are buying new, go with the dealer that you feel most comfortable with, and has the best reputation in your area.

We bought our barely used 2006 Viking 2170ST in August of 2007.  We love it, and I would buy another.  However, I would certainly shop ALL the different models before I bought anything.

Also, be aware that even the "best" have their problems from time to time.

Good luck with the shopping and post up pictures of whatever you wind up with.
