There has been a recall on 2005 & 2006 Ford F-150's with 5.4L engines.  It has come to light that the brake hose may cause the truck to lose breaking power.   "The brake hose can detach from an intake manifold causing the driver to lose the "assist" function that provides additional power to the brakes.  "The trucks could still be stopped with remaining braking power but it would required drivers to apply "more force to the pedal."  There has been 11 minor accidents but no injuries caused by this defect.

Starting late June, you can go to your Ford dealership to have the recall fixed.  Any questions, call 800-392-3673.

Although, the chances this happening to you is slim, it's pretty scary if this happens when you are pulling your trailer.

I'm not demeaning the recall. It is certainly important to take care of this issue if you have one of these trucks.

However, I can tell you from experience that some of these "Recalls" are generated to increase traffic flow and profits in the dealership. This was brought to light in the late 60's, early 70's when GM had one of it's 1st and biggest recalls ever. Oddly enough, it was for the exact same problem as this Ford recall. Makes one wonder HMMMMMMM!!!!

When customers came in to take care of the recall, our service writers were trained how to sell the customer additional services and New Car Salesman would swarm the service drive like vultures.

Again, I highly recommend getting this taken care of ASAP.....just be aware up upsales... ;)
