Hi All,

Just an FYI, after talking with Hargus we were able to determine that his covers  are not loosing silver...as in it is not coming off. What has actually happened is the aluminum dispersion coating that is sealed with a clear film of polyethylene has "retracted". In other words, the inside structure of the aluminum has dissipated. There are two levels of this to be considered.

One is normal wear and tear. Over the years, the aluminum may fade some and become spotty in areas. This is normal and will not effect performance. On the other hand, if this happens severely and in a short period, then what we have is a section of material that did not laminate properly during manufacturing. While it looked good coming off the roll, once the material was UV exposured the lamination issue was revealed.

The occurrence of this is very rare...maybe 4-5 feet is possible with-in a 500 yard roll. Most of the time we can see this when cutting the material and so the effected section never goes out. But sometimes the issue does not how up until UV is introduced.

BTW, anyone with Sportsman Blankets are subject to the same possibility...very rare as with us, but still possible.

Again, this is not to be confused with normal wear and tear. Hargus has used his covers for only one season and as such he has a defect. BTW, he is double checking both of his covers because he only notice the problem on one. None the less, we'll replace both.

Hope this help to provide some better understanding.

Quote from: HargusHi everybody,
I was getting the pu ready for another season and I noticed on my Gizmos that some of the reflective silver coating is coming off.  I only have used them for one season and I was kind of surprised. I stored them in the pu off season and nothing has been rubbing on it.
I enjoy the Gizmos and I think it is a useful product but if I loose the reflective material I'll be out of luck.
Anyone have a similar problem with them?

Thanks.

Thanks austinado16. I plan on reaching out to Pop Up Gizmos. I wanted to get a feel from some other campers that have had the Gizmos much longer than I've had.

Quote-MJohn Noticed your also pulling with a Freestar. Just wondering how well

We're happy with the Freestar but I am very aware that it is not the best type of tow vehicle. I'll be in the market for a new tv soon and I'm hoping to make a better choice. That being said it tows well. My camper may not be as heavy as yours but I try to be aware of the weight I put in it. We don't do much dry camping so I don't have a battery. I usually don't tow with a full tank of fuel and I have installed bumpers (I'm sorry the brand name escapes me now) under the frame of the vehicle near the rear axle to keep it from bottoming out. (I never did before I had them, it is just a precaution.). I feel the same way after we get loaded. But I have to work with what I have now. I can get the name of the part if your interested.

Hubby finally talked me into an F150 last Sat..
Know we really needed the truck but miss my van.
But atleast we can pull without worries now.
Freestar did well but don't wanna press my luck with so much weight.
We had added a/c, heater, etc to camper and well the weight was maxing out.
Now it's the new pymt I dreaD lol.    mj
