second trip: two questions

I just bought a new 07 fleetwood arcardia.  Took her last weekend to the local campground ten minutes from the house and spent three nights, everything went great and had a great time.  

Just got back today from our second trip.  This time we went to a state park that is about 1 hour from the house.  Due to work I got a very late start and got everything set up right at dark.  I thought the set up went okay until we sat down to eat a bite about 9:30 and noticed bugs of every shape and size(mosquitos, giant mosquitos, gnats, and flying cockroaches) coming in in the area of the shower.  there is a zip out panel in the shower/potty space and it turns out they were coming in at the top of the panel that was not completely sealed.  There is velcro strip that was not completely attached.  I fixed that the next morning but there were still considerable gaps at the top of were the two zippers meet terminate at the top of the panel right at the roof line.  I taped them up with duct tape and we did not have any problems the next night.  

Is this normal or did I set it up wrong?  


SECOND QUESTION: (AND MORE SERIOUS)

The first morning I was taking a quick rinse off with the outside shower and when I touched the side of the pup I received a shock and a pretty good one at that.  Thereafter whenever one of us were wet and touched the screen door or body of the pup we would recieve a shock.  

I think it was the park source of power that was either not grounded or was putting out more than 30 amps, since this did not happen last weekend.  Anyone ever have this happen?

Can't answer your question but wanted to say how great it is to see you guys using it so much.  We can't take our second trip until the last part of June.  How do you like it so far?  How's your dad doing?

Don't know about the shower area bug entry.

The shocking is certainly a ground issue, as the camper was using you as an easier-to-use-ground then the one supplied in the wiring.  You might plug it in at home and see if it happens there.  I'd also suggest taking a look at the ground wire(s) that run from your converter to the camper frame.  You might try tightening up any fasteners or lugs that mount that wire.  Also check the ground wire that runs in your power cable that you plug into the campsite with.  Make sure it's ground wire is connected tightly to the convertor, and make sure at the other end, it's tightly connected to the ground prong.  If the power cable has molded ends.....in other words, you can't check how the wires are connected to the prongs......you can use an ohm meter to test for resistance from one end of the ground wire to the ground prong.  If you see high resistance, you know the wire is bad and you need to either replace the whole power cable or cut the end off, test again with just the wire being tested, and then install a new end.

I am also glad that you are putting the camper to good use.  I would contact the dealer where you made the purchase.  The service manager would be a good source for a solution and it also puts them on alert that there may be a potential problem that should be covered under your warranty.

It only happened when we were wet which would indicate it was not always using us to ground and know that water is the best conduit but what does that mean in this situation.

Not that this really helps you, but I have read of improper grounding of campground pedistals, so you might check your PUP plugged in elsewhere and see if it's an isolated problem, if so, let the campground know of their improperly grounded pedistal.
