DW saw this when flipping through the Cabelea camping guide. Reviews on line say it works but the ice only lasts about 2 hours.

$80 isn't too bad if it makes those sweltering nights tolerable.

Anybody have any experience with one?

Thanks,

Rob

It's a version of a swamp cooler using ice instead of just water. Under any humidity over 20-30% it will have any enclosure it's in dripping with condesation. Not to mention the cost of that much ice to last over night and the fact that you'll HAVE TO get up every two hours to reload it.
Also where are you going to store all the ice you'll need?
It should be sold under the P.T. Barnum brand...LOL

As long as it only "swelters" for under two hours! ;)

Last summer, I has the opportunity to run into a person using the KoolerAire portable air conditioner. They were using a piece of large diameter 90degree pvc elbow to direct the air flow.  The device uses the same high technology as the O2 Cool Box!

Yes, it does work, (under the right conditions, as noted above).  Yes, it uses a large amount of ice.  I suppose if you have access to an ice machine, AND the ambient humidity is below 20-30%, then it's an OK idea!

I want to add, that while it does work, it's only for very localized use.  You must be downstream of the airflow to feel the cooling effect on your face and body.  It will do virtually nothing to cool the overall interior of a PopUp.
