Can I just go home? Started the day out with a restaraunt burning down across the street, now an earth quake? this is one of those days you just want to go back home and go to bed.

I was in the car, on my way to pick up Jed at PetSmart & didn't feel a thing.  Thank heaven!  All is well at home, and they're saying that the likelihood of another large one decreases to about 1% an hour after the initial quake.  Looks like we've dodged another one -- for now.

It's a good time to take stock of you own personal emergency procedures, though.  I bought a $10 all-purpose wrench that will shut off my gas main if necessary & keep it next to the garage door so I can get it quickly if needed.  Another thought ... your hot water tank is at least 40 gallons of good, clean water IF you shut off the main going into your home.  So in a pinch you've got enough water for awhile.

I wonder if Dee slept through it ...  ;)

I was just leaving my downtown LA office (Wilshire and Normandie). Our office is on top of a hill, looking at the downtown skyscrapers. As I stood in the door looking out, I could see all of the high-rise buildings swaying in different directions. It was so weird. I felt like I had been drugged and was hallucinating.

It went on for quite a while and the girls in the office started pushing their way out the door. As they went by, I said, "Wait, look at those buildings.....isn't that cool". I think that they thought I was nuts.

that was a scary one..was riding out at first until the second jolt and I saw the walls really moving, I jumped up (ouch... felt that later) and went to a door out of the living room I thought the chimney would come down on me! when it was over my neighbor made us go outside for bit...inspection of the house I had several things fall over nothing broke, all DD's dresser drawers were open..it looks like the earthquake straps I put on the kids dressers and bookcases did their job.  possibely have 4 new cracks on the wall were my chimney is..Dan will have to check it out when he gets home.
too much excitement for one day...I need a blue bomber :eyecrazy:

I have read that most of the state of California will eventually break off from the mainland during a severe earth quake and fall into the Pacific ocean, people and all... Maybe this small quake was just a fore warning........

Well, since the San Andreas Fault lies at the bottom of the mountains I live on, I would have water-front property!  To be able to look down 6000 feet to the ocean and not see San Bernardino, NICE! :p
