Camping World, RV dealers, Uhaul, auto parts stores and I think even WalMart has them. Not all the plugs are the same so make sure it has the type that fits what you have. Prices can vary greatly on these. Maybe some people that have tried different ones over the years can recommend one or two.

Any brake controller you get will need to be adjusted.  I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy.  You can get a wire harness that makes installing the controller plug and play.  One end fits the Prodigy and one end that will fit your truck's plug.  :)

I'll second the Prodigy. I've had others, but the inertial control is the smoothest thing out there. It's only a few bucks more and there's nothing else that's even close.

I purchased my Prodigy at rvwholesalers.com.  Prodigy $94 and brake controller and wiring harness $12.  Just plug and play.  It took about 10 minutes to install bracket and plug in wiring harness in controller and TV.

I also have a 2004 Dakota and see my plug under my dash,  I am assuming I just need the electric brake controller and the dodge harness to connect the controller to my pre-wired plug.  Is that it?

I appreciate any feedback.  Happy 4th!
