I know that we all look forward to going camping and get more fired up as the time draws nearer but I think I go a little overboard. We are leaving Friday afternoon when the kids get out of school but I find myself getting excited that tomorrow (Thursday) I get the pup and put it in front of the house to get it ready to leave Friday. Not only do I get excited for camping but now I get excited about the pre-camping. I think I've got it bad!  :yikes:

We are the same way. We set it up a couple days in advance and just tinker with it.

I've gotta tell ya though......NOBODY gets as excited as our stupid bird. Once the camping stuff starts coming out, there's no living with him. He refuses to stay in his cage. If we don't bring him out to the camper with us, he just sits in his cage and screams his head off...... :yikes:  :yikes:

We try to be as sneaky about it as we can but he knows exactly what stuff goes in the camper. All he has to do is see 1 item......that's it  :yikes:  :yikes: .

Now that^ is funny!

Same here.  As soon as I drag it out, pop up, and get a wiff of that canvas I'm a gonner.

In fact, out it comes tomorrow because we're heading up to Kings Canyon/Sequoia Nat'l on Friday.

Doofus sounds like a bird after my own heart.

We just finished our second ever family outing and first ever full weekend after the weather cut our maiden voyage short.  Immediately following that first full weekend, getting back out was all I could think about.  Sept. 12 is our next voyage.  I'm chomping at the bit.  I start a new job in a week and a half, yet it's the camper that consumes me.

Gary, we get fired up over getting ready to leave for camping also.  OK, I might get a little more fired up then DW.

Wayne, that is funny about Doofus.  Two weeks ago when we got back from camping with the three dogs they were exhausted and so were we from all the long hikes we took them on.  Over the next couple days after work I was washing the popup and getting things re-organized to store the popup back in the garage.

The dogs were in the workshop looking out the window into the garage and out the garage door.  The rottie (Babe) saw me throw there blanket out of the popup onto the driveway that we put on there king size bed in the pop-up.  She jumped out the window of the workshop (yes through the screen), ran to the trailer, jumped in and onto her bed.  The other two dogs (black lab & boxer) followed.

ROFLMAO........now you've gone and done it. My wife says that camping is as much about our pets as it is about camping itself. She loved this story...... :sombraro:

We can't wait until we retire (a few more years yet) so that we can get our dog(s) and go camping.

For now, we have to rely on Azusateach bringing Jed to our camp-outs.... :D

OC Campers

We are the same way.  Now that we have the rv space almost finished, I go out and sit in the camper quite often.  There is something about the smell that sets me off.

Leave everything until the last minute. That way you'll be able to run around in a panic. Don't mess with the camper until you get to where your going. That way you can test your survival skills ... and try to make do without those things you forgot to bring.

Ah, yes ... a little trip to great outdoors! Brings out the best and the worse in all of us!

I've only got to go camping once in the last month and have beEn jonesing bad. The heat has been rough for the past couple weeks and the wifey said no camping even with the AC. I have the duty blues this weekend so no camping but will drag the boat to MS for some fishing. I am going to visit some friends in KY around Labor day though with wife and kids or without wife I'm going camping! I looked on the map and saw Daniel Boone National forest next to Lexington and think that is where I'm headed.
I know who you feel about getting the shakes for camping by doing a little (pre-camping) or maybe a litte maint, cleaning, stowing, etc..a few days before. I have to keep my pup in storage so my wife knows when I'm hurting when she see's the camper in the driveway for a couple days.

Oh yeah you got it bad allright which makes you like the rest of us.

I get a kick out of planning a camping trip. I love it when we decide to vacation in a certain area that we've never been to. I spend hours online checking out the campgrounds, all the stuff to do in the area, mapping out the best routes and just thinking about how much fun we're going to have.

The really cool thing is that years later, I have very vivid memories of those trips with my wife and kids and that is what it is all about in my book.

Family, friends and time together.

You are not alone.  I came home from a week long trip Saturday.  Washed all of the camper bedding and today set up the camper and made the beds.  Then I hosed it down (to wash the salt spray off the tenting).  Now I have a few items to tinker with before I pop down and wait for the next trip.:)

That is definitely my husband's philosphy.     If it weren't for my "crazy planning," (as he calls it...and then thanks me later for all the fun we have) our PUP would probably stay in the driveway all summer!!
