Can anyone tell me how to remove fish odors from clothing?

DH & DS cut up something stinky called 'bunker' (?) for bait and wiped their hands on their clothes.  I washed them (bathing suits & t-shirts) in Dynamo on 'warm' and have had them sitting on the grass in the sun for 24 hours but they still smell REPULSIVE .

Any and all advice would be appreciated!

I googled it and found this worth a try if the clothes are things they will wear again.  Good luck!

Try soaking them in Oxyclean and HOT water.

I have found Oxyclean to be great at removing any 'organic' stain or odor - though with some really grungy stuff I have had to rinse and resoak, sometimes repeated over a day or so.

Oxyclean will not harm any fabrics (won't fade or discolor them) though the hot water may shrink things.  If you don't want to use HOT water on the clothes, try mixing the oxyclean (it's granulated) with HOT water first, and once it's dissolved, mix it with lukewarm or cool water and put the clothes in.

The only thing I have found that Oxyclean won't remove completely is petroleum baised stains - though it does reduce them, and the greasy spots don't feel or smell greasy anymore.

You can find Oxyclean in most k-marts, WalMart, Sam's, grocery stores, etc.

Bac-Out Stain & Odor Eliminator  uses living enzymes and is great on stuff like this.
Also, SportWash is good for odors. It's made for performance gear, but works well on all kinds of odors on all kinds of fabric.

I too recommend White Vinegar.....it also removes skunk odor from dogs and is much cheaper than many alternatives.

My other half wipes his fishy hands on his clothes, and I just toss them in the bathtub with some vinegar (don't want that odor with the other clothes going in the washer...just in case).  Swish, wring, swish and wring again and toss in with the regular laundry.

Add 3/4 cup Borax to the laundry.

Go to your local running shoe/equipment store (Fleet Feet, for example). They may have some of the products already suggested, or maybe something else. I'm thinking of getting something like it at my Fleet Feet (where I get my running shoes) because of some yardwork clothes that have soured.
