Hello,
I have a 1985 palamino pony that I just recently bought took it out once all ready, but tonight we sat it up in the driveway to check things out some.  I noticed while setting it up that one of the side roof pieces is rotted out where the bolt that holds on the roof arms.  the bolt has almost pulled all the way thru the roof.  I want to replace the side board or fix this some how.  I wanted to know has any one ever replaced the wood on the roofs and if so what kind of wood they used, Can you replace just the side pieces, ect.  This roof is what appears to be a metal tin on both sides of wood of some sort.  What steps and how does one go about fixing this rotten wood.

Ouch-
I had the same issue with my '94 Dutchmen. The interior skin in mine is just a thin film, which I removed and scraped the rotted wood from off the outer skin. Careful you don't use too much force and poke a hole all the way through. Using some 1/2" plywood and waterproof construction glue I glued the board back to the outer skin, and filled in gaps on the sides with more glue. After smoothing out the glue, I let it set to dry. Sanded a few spots, then painted. With the valance curtain hanging, you can't notice the patch.
Good Luck

Been there done that! I have a 99 rockwood and that was my first project. i used 7/16 osb. cranked camper all the way up removed all the interior screws to drop the canvas. then i cranked it down si it was only about a foot up. removed the cover piece from the molding to access the screws under it, had to get some help to remove the side panel cause the 10 ft width was too much for one person to handle while taking the screws out of the corner cause i didnt want it to bend while removing cause most of the wood was shot! then i wade me a 10 ft table with sawbucks and plywood and a few 2x4 laying around. layed the side panel on the table and carefully removed the outside aluminum skin from the wood then i had to scrape off all of the excess wood from the center where it had not rotted then i fliped it over and pulled off the vinyl inside, i used the outside piece as a template to cut the new wood. I used a construction grade sealant NP-1 to glue it all back together, i pumped it out on there and then used a lil $.69 putty knife to smooth it all out stuck the outside on then the inside. I drilled the new holes and got the new fittings from the hardware store down the road. then started putting it all back together. NOTE: the roof will sag while the side is off!  dont fret. just have someone inside while you re attach pushing up. start on one end and work your way across to the other. i also used the np-1 to caulk all the seams but if you are not a good caulker this is not recomended it will look good at first but as it weathers everywhere you smear it and try to wipe it off will show. i wish i had taken pictures to show but i didnt, but i am seeing a lil rot on the other side. sooooooo we will have pictures to show this time. good luck with your project! take pictures and if you get hung up just let us know.
